Founded in 1985, The Edina Chorale is dedicated to studying and performing the best in choral music, and to bringing that music to the southwest area of the Twin Cities. James Hawthorne directed the chorale from 1990-1995. Thomas Paulson, current music director/conductor, began his tenure in the fall of 1995. The Edina Chorale is increasingly being recognized for its creative programming, as evidenced by receiving the 2000 Plymouth Music Series/ACDA Minnesota Creative Programming Award. In December 2007 the chorale released its first commercially-produced CD. December in Minnesota is a collection of Christmas, Solstice and New Years music reflecting the light, hope and peace that, in Minnesota, often lies buried in hard earth and frozen lakes in the darkest month of the year.

Music Director, Thomas Paulson, began his tenure as Music Director/ Conductor of the Edina Chorale in 1995. Under his leadership, the Chamber Chorale has sung for regional and state conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, Choral Day at St. Olaf College, and with the full chorale for concerts in greater Minnesota including Austin, Little Falls, Red Wing, and St. Cloud. Paulson is Director of Music at Wayzata Community Church, directing the Chancel Choir, the Celebration Singers, leading the music department and guest conducting Wayzata Symphony Orchestra (WCC orchestra-in-residence). A published composer and arranger, he holds an MM degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Minnesota and a BA in Music Theory and Composition from St. Olaf College, Northfield.
